Driving down the motorway, heading South
and that's ok
Heavy traffic makes it slow, but I keep
going with the flow.
Meeting with some friends of mine, haven't
seen them for some time
Will I recognise them now? I guess we've
all changed anyhow.

All this week my mind's been racing, names
and faces I've been placing
Images from those old days, come to me from
out the haze.
Coming back so crystal clear, "haven't thought
of that for years"
makes me smile when I recall, maybe some
good times after all.

I stand before the big oak door, where I'd
last stood those years before
Now it doesn't seem so daunting, Images
that now aren't haunting.
Noise and laughter from within, I push the
door and enter in
So strange to see all the faces there, for
a moment I just stand and stare.

I see a face I recognise, I glance across,
I catch her eye
She looks back and she's wondering too,
"I think I remember you."
We meet, we greet, and for a while, we reminisce,
we laugh, we smile
Then all too soon the evening's gone, suppose
I should be going home.

We say goodbye, I walk outside, and head
off in the cold dark night
Now it all seems a little strange, and I
realise how much we've changed.
Where are the friends I used to know, and
what of those who didn't show?
Will I return again next time? some things
are best left in my mind.
